Inserting a Derived Manufacturing Plan

You can insert a manufacturing plan between two existing plans. The inserted plan is always a derivation.

Before you begin: View the list of manufacturing plans for a model or model version. See the Compositions tab of the Manufacturing Plans Page.
  1. Select the plan you want to be after the one being created. For example, if you want to insert a plan between Rev A and Rev B, select Rev B. You cannot insert a plan before the Root plan (top-level plan) or a plan in the Release or Archived state.
  2. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Insert Before .

    The Derived To manufacturing plan is the one you selected; the Derived From plan is the parent of that plan. The Type and Derivation Type matches the type of the manufacturing plan you selected.

  3. Enter these details:

    Field NameDescription
    Planned For Initially shows the Planned For Model Version of the Derived To plan.

    To change, click to choose the model version to be associated with this plan. You can select any model version in the derivation or revision chain prior to the Planned For Model Version of the Derived To plan.

    Derivation Level

    Revisions are required to be in the Main Release structure and cannot be changed.

    For derivations, the possible values are:
    • Main Release
    • Fix Release
    NameEnter a name, or check the AutoName box to let the system define the name.
    Display NameInitially shows the title of the object selected for Derived From; edit as needed.
    RevisionThe revision level of the manufacturing plan.
    Manufacturing Intent

    Possible Values Description
    Regular The manufacturing plan breakdown should comply with its related engineering definition.
    Retrofit The manufacturing plan breakdown does not need to comply with its related engineering definition.

    DescriptionType details that describe the plan.
    Policy This read-only field shows the Manufacturing Plan policy. If more than one policy has been configured, a drop-down list lets you choose a different policy.

  4. Click OK. The app shows a message indicating that this is an irreversible action.
  5. Click OK.
