Product Managers, Design Engineers and System Engineers can generate a precise bill of materials (PBOM) for a product configuration.
The PBOM can be generated only from the Preliminary state and only if the Design Validation Status and Marketing Validation Status have been validated. A PBOM is a list of all the parts needed to manufacture a valid product configuration. A PBOM is generated by checking rules defined for the model version to see which Parts should be included given the options and quantities ordered. For a particular product configuration, a PBOM is generated based on the GBOM objects connected to model versions and features present as selected options in the product configuration and their corresponding inclusion/exclusion rules. The flat PBOM serves as the view on the total list of parts that make up the new configured model version. To satisfy Engineer-To-Order or Design-To-Order scenarios, model version and feature definitions can be used to define the parts that will be used to design the new ordered model version. Manufacturing and Design Engineering can use this Engineering BOM (EBOM) as a starting point to design the new configuration.
