Generating a General Bill of Materials

Variant Management guides Product Managers through the process of building the model version structure, which includes all the features and options for a model version. Subsequently, a General Bill of Materials (GBOM) can be created that lists all the parts that could be used to build the model version.

The GBOM lists all parts, part families, and model versions and their subtypes of a feature or model version. The Precise BOM is generated based on the GBOM objects related to those model versions and features present in the product configuration after evaluating their inclusion/exclusion rules.

If a model version is added as a feature or a subfeature, then its GBOM items are shown in the Precise BOM. If the model version is added as a GBOM item, then only the model version is shown in the Precise BOM and not its GBOM items.
