Creating an Assessment

You can create an assessment that refers a failure mode (top event) or a fallible reference. The purpose of an assessment is to evaluate and store the computation results.

An assessment refers one or several top events, along with the pointed to failure modes of their trees. You can compute the assessment with all the failure modes, or with a selection.

An assessment refers a fault tree on which computation must be performed and computation results, including gates probability and a limited amount of cutsets.

More precisely, an assessment refers target requirements, analysis, results requirements, reliability source, and operational conditions. It also contains more detailed analysis results.

Before you begin: Create a fault tree model.

  1. Select a failure mode (top event) or a fallible reference.
  2. From the Analyze section of the action bar, click Create Assessment .
  3. From the Assessment panel, enter and modify the following information:
    • In the Properties area:
      • Title
      • Description
    • In the Mission area: Duration.

By default, the duration is 1 h.

  4. Select the top events to be computed.

Note: If the assessment status is not up to date, this means that the assessment has not been computed yet. See Computing an Assessment.
