Exporting OMF Data Interactively

You can export 3DEXPERIENCE content to .omf files. Converter for OMF converts VPLM AEC Product Structure and any associated geometry data into OMF binary format.

Before you begin: Converter for OMF:
  • Supports data and metadata described by GMG OMF as of February 2018
  • Does not support:
    • Large-sized point clouds (>100 000 points)
    • Volumes (block models)
    • Boreholes (other than as lines)
    • Gridded surfaces or splines
    • Triangulations with textures
Note: Files can also be exported using DataExchangePLMBatch.
  1. In the tree, select the node for the data you want to export.
For example, you can select the node for a set of polylines or a surface, or you can select a parent node. If you select a parent node, all data within that node (polyline, point sets, and surfaces) are selected for export.
  2. In the top bar, select Share > Export.
  3. In the Required section, from the Format list, select OpenMiningFormat (*.omf).
  4. In the FileName box, enter a name for the object.
  5. Open the Target box, and select a space:
    • File on disk (a selected location on a disk), if the DLName setting is activated.
    • File on disk, or Exchange Space, if the DLName setting is deactivated.
    • Collaborative Space to export a file from the collaborative space you are logged into.

The name of the current collaborative space appears in the Location box.

For more information about Exchange Space and Collaborative Space, see Exporting Content through Exchange Space Process.

  6. In the Location box, select a location to save the file:
    • If your Target is File on disk, you can browse and select the path to write the file (to the disk), or enter the path manually. If the manually entered directory does not exist, a warning appears.
    • If your Target is Exchange Space, the content is exported either in a project space or a team workspace. The directory browser displays the existing project spaces and team workspace. You can use the embedded internal browser to select the project or workspace, and navigate on the subfolders. You can select one or more folders.
    • If your Target is Collaborative Space, the Location box is unavailable.
  7. In the Options section, click the Report tab.
  8. To save the generated report in a specific location, select the Save Report check box.
    Notes:
    • If you chose the target as File on Disk, or Exchange Space, you can edit the report name while exporting documents.
    • If the DLName setting is activated, the Location box of the Report tab contains the defined DLName, or a default DLName.
    • If you selected the Target as File on Disk, you can choose a location to save the report.
  9. Click Ok.
If you try to export nontessellated content, the .omf file contains only the structure of triangulation objects, if any, and no partial representation.
