Creating a Pit Optimization Study

You can create an optimization that references a model or create a pit optimization study from scratch, and then associate a model to that study. You must complete all of the tasks that this page discusses in the order listed.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Start a Pit Optimization session, and specify preferences for creating content by selecting Set attributes at creation for all types in the context menu of the New Content panel.

Creating a Pit Optimization Study from Scratch

You can create a pit opimization-specific object using Add > New Content.

  1. From the Compass, click Pit Optimization.
  2. In the top bar, select Add > Content in the list (or press CTRL+N).
  3. In the New Content panel, click to expand the category section of your choice.
  4. Select an element type in the category list.

    For example, select Pit Optimization in the Simulation Meta-Modeler expanded section.

  5. In the Pit Optimization dialog box, enter a descriptive name and a meaningful description.

The Pit Optimization study is created and identified the tree. You can expand the data categories under the pit optimization. They are empty. Prepare your model and create the required contributing parts.

Creating an Optimization Study associated with a Model

Contributing parts are components of your model that participate in the optimization study.

  1. Prepare for your session, create a site, open a source block model, and a terrain surface. See Preparing for Your Pit Optimization Session.
  2. Open a Pit Optimization session. See Opening an App from the Compass.
  3. In the Pit Optimization dialog box, enter a descriptive name and a meaningful description. in session
    The Pit Optimization study is initialized with the model containing all the required contributing components.
