User Roles

Access control allows for the creation, modification, and reading of a Geoscience dataset (GDS) according to assigned roles. Access control is critical for the management of a Geoscience dataset.

The access control for GDS consists of two levels. Each level describes a collection of access controls that makes available the functionalities of any User or User Group. Read and Write access level controls are used in the roles. When a user shares a Geoscience dataset created by another user, access levels are applied.

Term Description
Read The level that allows read access to the Geoscience dataset. Read access is also used in any process that does not require changes in the dataset.
Write The level that allows modify access to the Geoscience dataset and also contains abilities related to the read access level. You can use "modify" access to manage Geoscience datasets because it allows a user to update a Geoscience dataset with new boreholes.
Geoscience leader The role that has the highest level of access and can author and share all Geoscience data. A tenant must have at least one Geoscience leader. The access for the Geoscience leader cannot be transferred to another user. A Geoscience leader can have the following access:
  • Create
  • Update
  • Delete
  • Read
  • Share
Geoscience author The role that can create a GDS query and then update, or delete it. A Geoscience author cannot update and delete other GDS queries unless they have been shared the appropriate user rights. Authors cannot share GDS queries that they create with other users.
