Add general compositing data for downhole composite
You can add the general compositing parameters to create a downhole composite.
- From the Interpretation section of the action bar, click Compositing. See Selecting interpretation.

On the Downhole Composite dialog box, on the
General tab, in the Composite Length
field, enter the length of the composite you require to generate.
Note: The value of Composite Length must be greater than 0.

In the Composite Length Method field, select one of the
following options:
- Fixed Length: Generates samples of equal length. The length is the value in the Composite Length field.
- Best fit: Generates samples of variable length within a geographical zone.

In the Categorical attribute field, select the categorical
attribute that define zones of interest.
The values of the zones of interest are displayed in a pane below the Categorical attribute list.

To select the zones of interest for the categorical attribute, you can do one of the
following:
- Select the Select all check box to select all the values of the zones of interest for the Categorical attribute.
- Select one or more values of the zones of interest for the Categorical attribute in the pane listing a zone of interest.
- Optional: In the Min % of sample to be included field, enter the minimum percentage of the composite length of the existing samples.
- In the Treat negative values as zero check box, select the check box to treat negative samples as zero. Clear the check box to ignore negative values.
- Use the Define top and bottom cut switch, if you want to define the top cut, bottom cut, or both for composited values.

Optional: In the Top cut field, enter the maximum value to use
for composited values.
Note: Any composited sample value higher than the value in the field is replaced with the value in the field.

Optional: In the Bottom cut field, enter the minimum value to
use for composited values. Any composited sample value lower than the Bottom cut value
is replaced with the specified value.
Note: Any composited sample value lower than the value in the field is replaced with the value in the field.

To save or discard the values that you have entered:
- Click Next to save the general compositing data for downhole composites.
- Click Cancel to discard the general compositing data for downhole composites.
The general compositing data for a downhole composite is added.
