Visualising bedding structures

You can modify the display of boreholes by retrieving and displaying structural data.


Before you begin: Load a borehole dataset.

  1. From the Boreholes section of the action bar, click Borehole Display Styles.
    In the Display Boreholes dialog box, the name of the dataset is displayed in the Dataset field.
  2. On the Structure tab, select the attribute for which you want to display bedding structure details from the Attribute list.

    If you select the empty option at the top of the list, all the parameters are reset.

  3. From the Methodology list, select the methodology for the attribute for which you want to display bedding structure details.
  4. Click Add to display and filter the bedding structure details with the dip or dip direction angle in the pane listing bedding structure details.
    Multiple structural data is displayed in the bedding structure details pane. When you expand the bedding structure details in the pane, you can view the dip and direction angles in the pane.
  5. Click Color to display a colour picker where you can select the colour of the specific bedding structure.

    Note: A random default colour is assigned.

  6. Click Symbol to select the symbol that you want to display for the specific bedding structure.

    Note: The options are: circle: stretched ellipse/torus, arrow: arrow, dot: plain semi-transparent disc.

  7. Enter the Min and Max values of the Dip for the bedding structure.

    Note: The range of values must be between 0-90 degrees. Every structural data has a dip and dip direction. Dip and dip direction are used as filter: only bedding data between the range of dip(s) are displayed on the graphical canvas.

  8. Enter the Min and Max values of the Dip Direction for the bedding structure.

    Note: The range of values must be between 0-360 degrees. Every structural data has a dip and dip direction. Dip and dip direction are used as filter: only bedding data between the range of dip(s) are displayed on the graphical canvas.

  9. Optional: Click to reset the Min and Max values of the dip or dip direction.
  10. Optional: Click to delete the bedding structure data from the pane.
  11. Optional: Click Apply.
    The settings are applied and the bedding data with a dip and dip direction appears as an ellipsis, by default. The Display Boreholes dialog remains displayed.
  12. Click OK to apply settings and display the boreholes.
    The settings are applied and the boreholes are displayed. The Display Boreholes dialog is closed.

The settings are applied and the bedding data are displayed on the boreholes.
