Creating a Center of Gravity Constraint

You can create a constraint that defines the acting center of gravity for the design space.

Before you begin: Open the Topology Optimization assistant. See Performing an Optimization Using the Topology Optimization Assistant.

  1. From the Optimization section, click Optimization constraints, and select Center of gravity constraints.
  2. Optional: Enter a Name for the constraint.
  3. Select supports for the constraint.

    All supports must be part of the design space for optimization.

  4. Select the COG Location.

    Maintain initial COG locationUse the center of gravity calculated for the selected supports.
    Define new COG locationSelect a geometric entity (point, line, or plane) that restricts the center of gravity location.
