Creating a Displacement Constraint

You can create a constraint that specifies the maximum displacement of selected vertices and an optional direction.


Before you begin: Open the Topology Optimization assistant. See Performing an Optimization Using the Topology Optimization Assistant.

  1. From the Optimization section, click Optimization constraints, and select Displacement constraints.
  2. Click New.
  3. Optional: In the Displacement Constraint dialog box, select a vertex to constrain, and click .
  4. Optional: Enter a Name for the constraint.
  5. Select additional vertices to constrain.
  6. Select the load case and the direction in which you apply the constraint.
  7. Enter the magnitude of the constraint.
