Creating a Frequency Constraint

You can create a constraint to specify that the minimum frequency of selected modes cannot fall below a specified value and that the maximum frequency of selected modes cannot exceed a specified value.

Notes:
  • You cannot create a frequency constraint if you created an optimization target that tries to maximize the natural frequencies.
  • You can apply only a single frequency constraint to your model.

Before you begin: Open the Topology Optimization assistant. See Performing an Optimization Using the Topology Optimization Assistant.

About Controls
  1. From the Optimization section, click Optimization constraints, and select Frequency constraint.
  2. Optional: Enter a Name for the constraint.
  3. Choose the load case that contains the restraints to use.

By default, the first load case is selected.

  4. Enter the number of modes to constrain.
  5. For each mode, do the following:
    1. Enter the minimum allowable frequency.
    2. Enter the maximum allowable frequency.
