Selecting Parts for the Topology Optimization

You can select the parts of your model that contribute to the optimization process.

Before you begin: Open the Topology Optimization assistant. See Performing an Optimization Using the Topology Optimization Assistant.

Specifying Regions to Preserve
  1. From the Model section, select Model configuration.

    When you first start the command, an automatic selection is performed. All parts are taken into account in the simulation as either:

    • A part to optimize if a body with partition is already created.
    • A contextual part. The last body is selected as default.

  2. From the model in the work area, select the regions to include in the optimization.
  3. Optional: Create or edit a partition to prepare the body to the optimization.
  4. Optional: Select Apply appropriate templates for Meshing.

    This option is available, provided you selected Add advanced options in Action Bar and dialog boxes in Me > Preferences.

  5. Optional: Add abstractions to the simulation.

  6. Optional: From the context toolbar, do one following:
