Specifying Regions to Preserve

You can select the regions within the design space that are excluded from the optimization.


Before you begin: Open the Topology Optimization assistant. See Performing an Optimization Using the Topology Optimization Assistant.

About Regions to Preserve
  1. From the Model section, select Regions to preserve.

    When you first start the command, all regions to preserve are selected. Therefore there is at least one optimized volume for each part.

  2. Select the volume to specify it as a region to preserve or a volume to optimize.
  3. In Tools, select Create preserved face.

    This option is available, provided you selected Add advanced options in Action Bar and dialog boxes in Me > Preferences.

  4. From the context toolbar, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Set the volume to freeze or to optimize.
    Select only this volume as the region to preserve.
    Select only this volume as the volume to optimize.
