You can create a bill of materials (BOM) displaying all the parts/products in
an assembly as defined in Engineering BOM Managementapp.
This lets you show the parts in a BOM that is created only in the database
and do not have any geometry.
Fake parts are used to specify the weight of substances
such as grease or oil. To be taken into account in the weight synthesis, fake parts must
belong to an assembly (they must be under an assembly node). For more information about the
engineering bill of materials, see the Engineering Team BOM User's Guide.
Before you begin:
Create a root product structure in Engineering BOM Management.
For more information, see Engineering BOM Management User's Guide:
Part Families: Creating a Part Family.
Create a BOM by selecting the BOM PowerView
category.
For more information, see Engineering BOM Management User's Guide:
Bill of Materials: Creating a Bill of Materials.
Select and add new parts in the BOM and define the fake parts by defining the
VPMVisibleattribute to False.
Save the BOMs and view the specifications.
For more information, see Engineering Team BOM User's Guide:
Viewing Specifications.
Select Actions > Synchronize with Engineering to synchronize the created BOM structure with VPM.
For more information, see Engineering Team BOM User's Guide:
Synchronizing with Engineering.
The BOM is created and appears in the tree. By default, the BOM does not display the fake parts.
Right-click the BOM and select Properties > BOM Format tab and click Yes in Show Fake Parts.
Click Apply and then click OK in the Properties dialog box.
The BOM now displays the fake parts whose VPMVisible attribute is
defined as False in Engineering BOM Management.
Notes:
The item numbers are reattributed according to the new products listed in the BOM.
If you change the type of a BOM from displaying the fake parts to not displaying
the fake parts, the fake parts shown in the BOM are considered as deleted and are
displayed as per the chosen option of Display of Removed
Products property.
