Creating Patterns

Using context toolbars you can create rectangular and circular patterns directly in the work area.

Note:
  • To create patterns using context toolbars Same dimension mode must be used.
  • The patterns are created in Instance(s) & Spacing mode.

Create Rectangular Patterns

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing wireframe, surface or volumic elements.
  1. Select an element and click Robot and Same dimension in the context toolbars.

    The direction of rectangular patterns can be specified by

    • a Robot axis,
    • a line or linear edge, or
    • the normal of a plane or planar face.



  2. Press Ctrl and drag an axis of the Robot.
    A rectangular pattern with two instances is created in direction of the robot axis.

  3. Use the arrow handle, the ruler, or the box to modify the distance.


  4. Click the Count box and modify the number of instances.


  5. Press Enter or click the background to validate the command.



Create Circular Patterns

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing wireframe, surface or volumic elements and and elements which can be used as rotation axis.

The rotation axis of circular patterns can be specified by

  • a Robot axis or
  • a line or linear edge.
  1. Select the element from which the pattern shall be created and click Robot and Same dimension in the context toolbars.


  2. Drag the robot onto a line which shall be used as rotation axis.
    The robot changes to a wheel handle.

  3. Press Ctrl and manipulate the wheel handle.
    A circular pattern with two instances is created using the line as axis.

  4. Use the wheel handle, the ruler, or the box to modify angular spacing.
  5. Click the Count box and modify the number of instances.


  6. Press Enter or click the background to validate the command.
