Extracting a 3D Work on Support in a Drafting View

You can generate a drawing document from a representation containing a 3D work on support. A 3D working support will be automatically generated on the drawing view depending on the Generative Shape Design parameters defined in the Standard Generative View Style (GVS).

Before you begin:

Ensure that the Display generative view style usage check box is cleared in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Drafting, Administration tab, Generative view style section, if you want to create and use generative view styles.

The generative view styles can be configured via Me > Preferences > Standards.

Here is the representation used for the purpose of this scenario:

  1. From the Compass, click 3DModelling and select Drafting .
The Drawing / Representation DS dialog box appears.
  2. Click Front, Bottom and Right Views to create a drawing in these views.
  3. Click Finish.
The 3D work on support and the geometry are automatically generated in the drawing views. The grid fully covers the geometry:

    Important:
    • If several 3D working supports are defined, only the current one is extracted.
    • If the 3D working support is not current, it will not be extracted.
    • In a product context, it is not possible to extract any 3D working support.
    • The grid's parameters are not associative: any modification will be lost at the next update.
