Creating Symbolic Outputs

You can create symbolic output interfaces. You can link modules using symbolic interfaces.


Before you begin: Select a 3D part and create a module.

  1. From the Modules section of the action bar, click Symbolic Output .

    You can create, edit, and remove symbolic output interfaces using the Output option in the Module Structure Manager dialog box.

  2. In the Symbolic Output dialog box, specify a symbolic name for the output interface in the Name box.
  3. In the Location box, specify the name of the module where the output interface is to be created.

    Notes:
    • A symbolic link is possible only between the symbolic interfaces that are on the same level of modules with the same ancestor.
    • To link an input interface from a third-level module with an output interface from a second-level module, use delegations.
    • A delegation of an input interface runs from top to bottom in the tree.

  4. In the Content box, select the elements to publish.
  5. Optional: To remove all the lines from the table, click .
  6. Click OK.
    A symbolic output interface is created.
    Note: When a symbolic interface is created, a symbolic link is automatically verified for the input interface and the output interface that depends on the symbolic path name of the input interface. If this link is found, it is created automatically. This is called as name matching.
