Cutting a Surface by a Point

You can cut a surface at an iso curve specified by a point.


Before you begin: Open a 3D shape containing a surface and a point.

  1. Select a surface and a point.
  2. From the Surfacing section of the action bar, click OmniCut or OmniCutModify .

    You can also Alt + middle-click to access OmniCutModify.

  3. To specify the iso curve, click Auto, U, or V.

    Auto Starting from the selected point, the system finds the nearest point on the natural boundary of the underlying surface. This automatically specifies the direction.
    U Cuts transverse to the U direction.
    V Cuts transverse to the V direction.
  4. Click OK.

In the OmniCut case, the input objects that were cut are set to Hide. In the OmniCutModify case, the input geometry is modified and remains in the Show mode.

Note: If you delete the OmniCut feature, the hidden input objects are not automatically set to Show. It must be done manually.
