Exporting Data to IGES 3D

You can export data to disk-based IGES files.

Before you begin:
  • Select the required options for IGES.

For more information about their behavior, read the IGES 3D Concepts.

  • Check the standard you are using: The standard supported is IGES 5.3. It is year 2000-compliant.
Tip: The IGES standard 5.3 is downloadable from http://www.uspro.org/documents/.
  1. Save all data in session and go to the tab containing the data to export.
    1. If unsaved data exist, a message is displayed. Follow the instructions it provides.
  2. Select Share > Export.

    See Export for more information.

A file selection dialog box is displayed.
  3. Go to the directory where you want to export the file. Key in the name of the file to create in File name.

    • Only ASCII 1-byte characters are supported.
    • When the data size to export exceeds the limit allowed by IGES standard, export fails and an error message is displayed. Reduce the data size before starting export again.

    1. Select IGES 3D (*.igs) as the format.
    2. Click OK.

Click Cancel to interrupt the transfer at any time. The current conversion operation is then interrupted (after the processing of the current independent entity) and the partial conversion already performed is saved in the IGES file.

    • A progress bar is displayed. A message is displayed when the export is completed.
    • See About Reports for more information about result check.

Structures are exported as explained in About Structures.
