Dimensioning Subdivision Surfaces

You can control the dimension and allow the sizing of a subdivision surface along an entire or half an axis.

Before you begin: Create a subdivision surface.
  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Control of Dimension .
  2. Select the surface.
The dimensions of the entire meshed surface appear.

  3. From the Tools Palette, click one of the following:
    OptionDescription
1D transformation Moves the vertices along the direction of the selected dimension.
2D transformation Moves the vertices along the two displayed directions.
3D transformation Moves the vertices along the three displayed directions.
Half Axis Deformation Mode Sizes the surface along an half axis without moving or modifying dimension along other axis.
Orthogonal View Change Automatically changes the view point to the closest view plane of the axis system.
Robot Definition Modifies the origin and orientation of the Robot to define new axis system. The options in the Tools Palette define the new position and orientation of the axis system. For more information, see Managing the Robot.
  4. Click a dimension to modify it.
  5. In the Dimension Definition dialog box, enter the value or use the arrows to change the value.
  6. Click OK.
The vertices of the subdivision surface are modified depending on the type of transformation.
