Fitting a Subdivision Surface on Another Support

You can fit a subdivision surface on another support.


Before you begin: Create a subdivision surface and a support.

  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Fitting Mesh .
  2. From the Tools Palette, click one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Pick Selects the support to be used for the fitting
    Automatic Selection Selects any kind of element (faces, edges, and vertices)
    Face Selection Selects faces only
    Edge Selection Selects edges only
    Vertex Selection Selects vertices only
    All Elements Selection Selects all elements
    Selection Inversion Inverts the selection
    Apply (Enter) Validates the command
  3. Select the subdivision surface to be modified.
  4. Select the target support.
    The fitting is automatically computed with all elements that can be modified. You can select certain elements and therefore limit the fitting.

    Tip: You can add cuts on the initial surface to be closer to the support.
