Moving Along Edges

You can translate vertices, faces, or edges along the edges of the base mesh.


Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing a subdivision surface.

Selecting Elements by Type
  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Modification .
  2. Optional: Click the surface and click Mesh Lines from the Tools Palette.
  3. Choose the element type and then select several elements.
  4. Move them along the direction shown with the light blue arrow.
    The nearest direction is selected. All vertices move at the same time of the same length along their own edge.

    Note: You can press Alt and move vertices parallelly to a target element. This mode is only available if vertices belong to the same line on the same surface, and provided the Manipulation Law command is cleared.
  5. Release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new position of the surface.
