Modifying the Weight of Vertices or Edges

You can adjust the weight applied to edges or vertices to attract the surface by the mesh.

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing a subdivision surface.
  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Modification .
  2. From the Tools Palette, click Attraction .
A new icon appears in the Tools Palette. This icon has two states:
    • Sharp Attraction: Defines sharp attributes on the selected edge that are discontinuous in tangency and curvature.
    • Smooth Attraction: Defines smooth attributes on the selected edge that are continuous in tangency and curvature.
Warning: These options are not available if you select vertices.
  3. Select the element to modify.
A slider appears at the right of the screen to let you define the weight value, comprised between 0 and 100.
  4. Drag and move the pointer to reach the desired value.
  5. Release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new position of the surface.

    Important:
    • If you select edges with different weights, the slider value corresponds to the average weight of the selected edges. If you modify the mode (smooth or sharp), the average weight is applied to all the selected edges.
    • The weight on edges and vertices is only shown for selected elements and highlighted elements:
