Cutting Faces

You can cut faces in two or more parts.


Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing a subdivision surface.

About the Slider
  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Faces Cutting .

    You can also access this command by pressing ALT+SHIFT+F.

  2. Select the surface to be cut.
    A slider appears at the right of the work area to let you define the number of sections.
  3. Drag the slider to the number of desired sections.
  4. Click the surface to cut it as many times as you want.
  5. From the Tools Palette, click one of the following:

    Cut Manipulation Defines a ratio to position the sections using a slider. The ratio value depends on the number of sections you have previously defined.
    Notes:
    • If the number of sections is set to 1 and only one edge is selected, positioning the section can directly be defined by picking the selected edge:

      A second click on the edge allows to position the section and validate the command.

    • To deselect an edge, press Ctrl and click the edge.
    Cut on Click Cuts the face at the spherical manipulator's position. The manipulator moves on the closest edge and the cutting validation is automatic.
