Extruding Edges

You can extrude edges by selecting faces and using directions.

  1. Click Extrusion .
    Tip: You can also access this command by pressing ALT+SHIFT+X.
  2. Select a surface.
  3. From the Tools Palette, click Edge Extrusion .
  4. Select an edge.
    The direction is automatically defined.
    Warning: You can only select a free edge of an open surface.


  5. Click to add a face.
    A single face on a plane is created. It is defined by the mean plane of the face connected to the edge.

  6. From the Tools Palette, click one of the following:

    Fill Fills holes.

    Extrusion Fixed Direction Extrudes using a fixed direction.

    Extrusion Along Mesh Line Extrudes along mesh lines.

    Attraction Adds weight on the junction with the extrusion. A slider lets you define the weight.

    Smooth to Sharp Gives a sharp edge or a smooth edge .
    Apply (Enter) Validates the command.
