Subdividing Faces

You can create a set of faces inside selected faces.


Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing a subdivision surface.

Accessing Transformation Commands
  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Face Subdivision .

    You can also access this command by pressing ALT+SHIFT+D.

  2. Select the surface to be subdivided.
    A slider appears at the right of the screen to let you define the ratio between 0.1 and 0.9.
  3. Drag the slider to the desired ratio.

    You can also click in the slider to open the Subdivision Ratio dialog box and define the ratio between 0.1 and 0.9. The box dynamically updates whenever you move the slider and vice-versa.

  4. Click to subdivide a face.


  5. Press Ctrl to add elements and subdivide the selection.
    Tip: You can also add elements by pressing Shift and drawing a trap.
  6. Release the pointer when you are satisfied with the new topology of the surface.
    Ratio = 0.1

    Ratio = 0.8
