Creating Surface Insulation

You can insulate surfaces and solid objects.

  1. From the Generic Insulation section of the action bar, click Surface Insulation .

    Tip: You can also create a surface insulation product as follows:
    1. Right-click the root product and select Insert > Extended Product.
    2. Under the Insulation category, click Surface Insulation.

  2. In the Surface Insulation panel, select the type and enter the title of the insulation object.

    You can keep the default title derived from the selected type.

  3. In the Support box, select a surface or faces of an object to insulate.

    Notes:
    • You can click ... to manage multiselection.
    • In case of multiselection, one insulation object is created for each selected surface.
    • In case of faces of a volume or solid, a single insulation object is created for all faces, provided that the faces have G0 continuity.
    • If you select a face connecting other two or more already selected and unconnected faces, a message appears with choices to merge the insulation into one object or not.

  4. Optional: To limit the insulation, do the following:
    1. Select the previewed insulation trace in 3D area and click Add Limit to Insulation on the context toolbar.
    2. Select the limiting element (plane, surface, or output profile).

      You can offset the limit using the handle.

    3. Select the newly added limit and click the orientation handle to invert the insulation area across the limiting plane.
  5. Under Material &Thickness, select the required material and enter the thickness.
    The insulation is created.
    Tip: To edit the insulation, select it and click Surface Insulation from the action bar.
