This task shows how to reset settings locked by one administration level through a scenario.

  1. Start a session in administrator mode as explained in Locking or Modifying Settings
  2. Select the Me > Preferences command.

Settings are not locked and are set to the default values.

  4. Set and lock the settings as follows:

    • Background: keep the default value, do not lock the setting
    • No Show background: choose another color, do not lock the setting
    • Low intesity elements: keep the default value, lock the setting
    • Update needed: choose another color, lock the setting

  5. Click Close to exit the panel. Select Me > Preferences > Display > Vizualization again.
    The changes are not applied.
  6. Still in the Visualization tab, set the settings as explained in step 4.
  7. This time, click Apply and Ok.
    The new settings are applied.
  8. Again, select Me > Preferences > Display > Vizualization.
    1. Click Reset
    2. Select the reset option and click Ok.

    • Low intensity elements and Update needed settings are locked but the initial values are restored.
    • Background stays at default value
    • No Show background recovers its default value

As there is only one level of administration, Reset restores the default values.

As you launch the session in administrator mode, even the locked values are reset, but the locks are kept.
