Inserting Designs From 3DEXPERIENCE platform in an Active Design

You can insert designs from 3DEXPERIENCE platform in the active design open in Inventor.

You can insert,

  • Part in assembly
  • Assembly in assembly.

You cannot insert,

  • Assembly in part
  • Part in part

Before you begin: Ensure that the design in which you want to insert another design is open and active in Inventor.
  1. In the Inventor toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Insert.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Insert dialog box appears.
  2. Search for the design in the 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box. For more information, see Searching Designs in 3DEXPERIENCE.
The search results are listed in the 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box. For more information about iterations and revisions behavior, see About Iterations and Revisions.
  3. Select a design and click Insert or right-click the design and click Insert.

The selected design is inserted to the design currently active in Inventor in the location (0,0,0).

Notes:
  • Design types that cannot be inserted in the current open design are blocked and cannot be selected. These types will have their row in the list grayed out.
  • The checkout directory must be the same directory set using Project > Workspace. If the design is checked out or inserted in some other workspace, the directory is not added to the search group path and check out or insert fails. You must add the checkout directory in the workspace search path if the workspace directory is set to another directory. You can also choose not to set any workspace directory, so that the location where the design is accessed from is considered as the workspace.
