Defining Force Elements

You can define force elements in an engineering connection during a kinematic simulation or when playing mechanisms.

About Force Elements

Context: A Modelica library offers classes to extend an engineering connection with force elements such as springs, dampers or bushings. For more information about Modelica library, see Dymola Behavior Modeling: Working with the Classes for Force Elements Browser.

  1. From the Mechanical Systems Design section of the action bar, click Engineering Connection .
  2. In the Force Element tab, select one of the following force elements to create:
    • Damper
    • SpringDamperParallel
    • SpringDamperSeries

Important: Force elements options are only available for axis-based engineering connections.

The force element appear in the tree, under the associated engineering connection.
  3. To edit the force element, double-click the force element in the tree, and use the following options:
    OptionDescription
Edit force element parameters Opens the Modelica parameters edition panel.
Note: You can only edit the parameters if the Modelica parameters are already created.
Delete force element Deletes the current force element.
Deactivate force element Activates or deactivates the current force element.
