Creating Mechanism Representations

You can insert a mechanism representation under a product and create multiple mechanism representations for the same product.


Before you begin: A product must be open.

Defining a Mechanism
  1. In the tree, right-click the product in which you want to add a representation.
  2. Click Insert > Representation

    The New Content dialog box appears.

  3. Select Mechanism Representation.
    Alternatively, you can perform Steps 1–3 automatically by clicking Mechanism Representation in the Mechanical Systems Design section of the action bar. The mechanism is created for the selected product in the tree.
  4. If you clicked Mechanism Representation , enter the name and properties of the mechanism representation in the Mechanism Representation dialog box.
  5. In the Mechanism Preferences tab, select the appropriate options:

    Include all kinematics connections into the mechanism Includes all engineering connections in the product as joints in the new mechanism representation.
    Create all possible kinematics commands Include all controlled constraints in the engineering connections as commands in the new mechanism representation.
    Link all independent submechanisms Assembles the existing mechanisms instanced under subproducts in the new mechanism representation.
    Warning: You can only assemble independent mechanisms.
  6. Click Finish.

The mechanism representation is created under the product.
