Using Snapshots in the Review Process App

You can use snapshots in a validation document. Snapshots can be imported into a validation for review and collaboration in the Design Synthesis app.

For information about creating validations and reviews, see the Design Synthesis User's Guide.

Before you begin:
  • A kinematics simulation that contains snapshots must be open.
  • To import snapshots into Validation objects, you must have a license for the Design Synthesis app.

How to review kinematics Scenario Results in the Live Validation app.
  1. Create a simulation-type validation.

Warning: There is no associativity between the kinematics simulation and the validation. If you modify a simulation, the related validation will not be updated or marked as out of date.

    1. Select Add > Content.
    2. Select Validation, and click Finish.
    3. Select Simulation in the Type list.
  2. Select the context of the validation.
    1. Click Define Context.
The Define Context dialog box appears.
    2. Select the From session tab, and click Retrieve loaded data.
    3. Select the kinematics simulation, and click OK.
  3. Create a review for the validation.
    1. Right-click the validation, and select Create Review.
The Create Review dialog box appears.
    2. Enter a name, and click Finish.
  4. In the tree, right-click on a snapshot and select Create DMU Slide.
A slide is created under the review node in the validation object. In the following example, two slides have been created:

Warning: When viewing a slideshow of slides created from kinematics simulation snapshots, the kinematics constraints in the mechanism are not enforced. The displacements and motions observed during the slideshow are based on the shortest interpolation between one configuration and the next configuration, not the joints in the mechanism.
Note: You can perform a similar step-by-step scenario in the Design Review app. For more information, see the Design Review User's Guide and the dedicated article in the Knowledge Base.
