Generating a Knowledge Report

You can launch the report from the Search Results panel and the Explore window. This proves especially useful for users who are not designers and who need to launch the report.

Notes:
  • The report can be launched on N roots. In this case, a dialog box appears enabling you to select the root you want to visualize.
  • Select the objects first before you generate the report.
  • All output files will be saved to the preferences directory. For more information, see Customizing Preferences.

Using the Share > Export> Knowledge Report Command

You are going to launch the report from the Quick Start window. Note that you must have used the product recently to launch the batch in this window.

Note: Reports can be generated for the selected objects by:
  • Selecting objects interactively. You can select all the objects in session but the report is generated for the objects defined in the Report Definition Template xml.
  • Choosing All objects in the Session : It selects all objects defined in the Report Definition Template xml.

Before you begin: You must have created a report in Quality Rules Reuse and saved it in database.
  1. Open your model.
  2. Select Share > Export> Knowledge Report.
  3. In the Report Generation dialog box, click Select, type the name of the template you created, and click Search.
  4. Double-click your report template in the XML Document Chooser.
    You are back in the Report Generation dialog box.
  5. Click All objects in session to generate your report for all the objects of your model and click Generate Report.
  6. Select the format of the output file (HTML or XML) and click Open Report.
  7. Click Save as to save the report.
    You can apply an .xsl style sheet to the xml file.

From the Search Results panel

You are going to launch the report from the Search Results panel.

  1. In the Search box, type the name of the product or enter prd: followed by a search string or by the wildcard character *, and hit Enter.
    The products are displayed in the list.
  2. Select the products you want to work with and select Share > Knowledge > Report Generation.
    Note: For the rest of the procedure, see description above (starting step 3).

From the Explore Window

You are going to launch the report from the Explore window.

  1. In the Search box, type the name of the product or enter prd: followed by a search string or by the wildcard character *, and hit Enter.
    The products are displayed in the list.
  2. Right-click the product and select Explore.
  3. In the Explore tab, select Share > Knowledge > Report Generation.
    Note: For the rest of the procedure, see description above (starting step 3).
