Changing the Display Unit of a Parameter

You can change the display unit of a dimension parameter to better suit your needs.

Note: Dimension parameters (like length and angle) have a magnitude that results in a list of possible units. In the 3DEXPERIENCE, dimensions are displayed according to the preferences set in Me > Preferences > 3D Modeling > Multi Discipline Automated Engineering > Knowledge Basics > Units. Each magnitude has a given display unit, and provides various display options. In some cases, you may want to use more than one display unit for a given magnitude. It is the case in the large range context when you want to express some length parameters in kilometers and other ones in meters for example.

Creating a Parameter
  1. Click Formula .
  2. In the Formulas editor, select a parameter type with Single Value from the New Parameter of type list, then click New Parameter of type.
  3. Right-click the value box and select Change Display Unit.
  4. In the Change Display Unit dialog box, select the unit from the list and click OK.
    Notes:
    • This command lets you change only the display unit of the parameter you are creating or editing. To change the display unit for your session, select Me > Preferences > Parameters and Measure > Units. It is available for persistent parameters only.
    • If you enter a value without indicating the unit, the display unit is the one you set in Me > Preferences. The value is immediately modified to take this implicit value into account. If you select mm (millimeters) as display unit and enter 2, the value is 2mm. If you later change the display unit to m, the value is 0.002m.
    • To reset the unit, select Reset (use display unit defined in the preferences) in the context menu.
