Reclassifying an Object

You can change an object from belonging to one class to belonging to another. Although you could remove the classification and then add a new one, IP Classification lets you do both of these tasks at once.

Required access roles:

Baseline: Owner, Leader, Author

App-specific: Librarian

Before you begin: View the Classification page for an object. See Classifications List.
  1. Check the classification for which you want to replace with another classification.
  2. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click ReClassify.
  3. Choose the library:
    1. Click for the Library field. The search for libraries page opens.
    2. Select the required library. You can enter search criteria to narrow the list of libraries as required.
    3. Click OK.
  4. Select the class:
    1. Click for the Class field. The search for classes page opens.
    2. Select the required classes. You can enter search criteria to narrow the list of classes as required, and you can select any number of classes.
    3. Click Done. If a selected class includes an attribute group, those attributes are added to the dialog.
    4. Enter values for any attributes as required. If an attribute is included in more than one attribute group, the value is updated in all locations.
  5. Click Done.
Note: If the disconnected class results in removing attributes, the page shows a message listing the attributes that will no longer be available for this object.
