Dividing a Large Project

You can divide a large building project into individual tabs that architects and designers can work on independently.

  1. Create a mass with the currently known required number of stories in the project.
  2. To create a multi-building project:
    1. Create a Site tab.
    2. Use the Insert New Building command to add each building in the project.
  3. To create a separate tab for the Shell and Core:
    1. In the tree, click Shell and Core.
    2. From the context toolbar, click Activate Component .
    3. Right-click Shell and Core.
    4. From the context menu, click Open Component .

    From the Shell and Core, an architect can add roofs, curtain walls, external openings, and multi-level elements such as stairs, stairwells, shafts, and elevators.

  4. To create a separate tab for each story, perform for each story the following:
    1. From the first tab for the building, in the tree, click a story.
    2. From the context toolbar, click Activate Component .
    3. Right-click the story.
    4. From the context menu, click Open Component .

    From the story, the architect or designer can create or place spaces and create slabs and walls confined to the story.

  5. To create a separate tab for each building in a multi-building site, perform the following for each building in the Site tab:
    1. In the tree, click a building.
    2. From the context toolbar, click Activate Component .
    3. Right-click the building.
    4. From the context menu, click Open Component .
  6. To aid the designers and developers in searching for their assigned tabs, rename the components as follows:
    1. Open the tab.
    2. Click the component name until the component name opens into a text box.
    3. Enter the new component name.

The project has tabs for the overall project and for elements in the project such as Shell and Core and each story. The project tab reflects any work done in the component tabs.
