2D Layout Insight and 2D Layout for 3D Design File-based Design Import

File-based Design Import (FBDI) enables content migration from V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE.

V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE Data Import Table

The following table describes import correspondences between V5 file-based data and 3DEXPERIENCE content.

The statuses for import results are fully imported, partially imported, and not imported (-).

V5 Data Type 3DEXPERIENCE Content Type Import Result
Roughness symbol Roughness symbol Fully imported.

The roughness symbol is standard compliant in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.

Extension line Extension line Fully imported.

In a CATIA V5 session, an associated roughness has no extension. After migration, a roughness has an extension line if needed.

2D component instances 2D component instances

Partially imported.

If the CATDrawing containing the 2D component reference is:

  • accessible, then the 2D component is imported.
  • not accessible, then the 2D component is imported and isolated.

Considerations

You should take the following considerations into account:

FBDI process

The FBDI process is successful when the CATPart containing a 2D Layout:

  • has links to accessible documents only,
  • has links to a non-accessible document but has been isolated (using the Always activated or User choice option via Me > Preferences > General > File-based Design Import > FBDI General tab, Link Isolation area).

However, a few links or items are partially imported.
