You can create, edit, or modify a legend of labels.

Create a Legend

You can create a legend of labels located in a layout, a sheet, or a view .

Before you begin: Create a label.
  1. Right-click the label and select Label.x object > Legend.
  2. In the Legend dialog box, enter a legend for the selected label and click OK.
    The legend is created.

Edit a Legend

You can edit a single or several legends simultaneously.

  1. Select one or more labels by pressing Ctrl.
  2. Right-click and select Selected objects > Legend.
    Note: The Legend dialog box is empty if:
    • The selected labels have different legends.
    • One of the selected labels has no legend.

    However, if the selected labels have the same legends, the Legend dialog box displays the current legend. You can edit this legend.

  3. In the Legend dialog box, enter the legend and click OK.
    The legend of the selected labels is modified.

Modify a Legend While Editing a Label

You can modify a legend while editing a label located in the main view of a detail sheet of a layout.

Before you begin: Create a label.
  1. Instantiate a label in the main view of a detail sheet of a layout.
  2. Double-click the label.
    Note: Double-clicking the label starts its edition mode.
  3. Edit the legend as per your requirement and click anywhere in the sheet.
    The legend is modified.
