Management Through Me > Preferences and Properties

This sub-topic discusses the management of the layout view background through Me > Preferences and Properties.

Me > Preferences

In Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Layout for 3D Design > Display section, under Visualization, the Display background and cutting plane when loading layout check box is selected by default.

When Display background and cutting plane when loading layout is selected, then Display Backgrounds as Specified for Each View is activated every time the 3D shape representation containing the 2D Layout is opened.

  • If the background display is deactivated and the 2D Layout window is closed keeping the 3D window open, then again reopening the 2D Layout window, will have a result that the background display is still off.
  • If you close both the 2D and 3D window, and launch the 3D shape representation in 2D Layout for 3D Design, then the background display is activated.

When Display background and cutting plane when loading layout is cleared, then the choice specified by Display Backgrounds as Specified for Each View is applied to all the 2D layout for 3D Design windows open in that session and is further kept when closing and restarting a session.

You can also manage the background of each layout view using the view properties. For more information, see View Properties.

Visual and Selection Priorities

This sub-topic discusses visual and selection priorities.

Elements in the 2D background have the same visual and selection priorities than elements of the same type seen in the view foreground. For example, a dimension can cover an edge. To by-pass this problem, use the preselection navigator (documented in the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps).

View Background Manipulation

This sub-topic discusses the manipulation of the view background.
