Text Properties

The Text lets you modify font properties for coordinates dimension, datum, datum target, dimension, flag note, geometrical tolerance, note object attribute, roughness, and text.

Select the Text tab to access properties.

This page discusses:

Frame
Defines the frame representation for the text.
Important:
  • For Coordinates Dimension, Rectangle is selected and is not modifiable.
  • For Datum, Square is selected and is not modifiable.
  • For Datum Target, Score Circle is selected and is not modifiable.
  • For Geometrical Tolerance, not relevant.
Color
Defines the color for the text.
Important:
  • This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.
  • To change their color including the text, use Color property in the Font property for this features.
  • The Color property change only the Dimension value, not the dimension line. To change dimension line color use different color properties in the Dimension Line properties.
Thickness
Defines the thickness for the text.
Important:
  • This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.
  • To change the dimension line thickness, use Thickness property in the Dimension Line properties for this features.
Line Type
Defines the line type for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

Fill Frame
Defines the addition of color fill to a frame.
Note: This property is applicable only to text and balloon annotations.
Margin H
Defines the horizontal margin of frame.
Margin V
Defines the vertical margin of frame.
Notes:
  • The Margin H and Margin V boxes are available only if the selected annotation frame type supports either the horizontal, vertical, or both margins.
  • Only the margins of variable frames can be managed.

Position

Anchor Point
Defines the anchor point for the text. The default type is Global. A global anchor point ensures that the frame of the text does not cross the extension line of the dimension.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Datum and Datum Target.

Justification
Defines the justification for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

X
Defines the x coordinate for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Dimension.

Y
Defines the y coordinate for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Dimension.

Anchor Mode
Defines the anchor mode for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Datum Target and Dimension.

Line Spacing Mode
Defines the line spacing mode for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

Line Spacing
Defines the line spacing for the text.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

Word wrap
Defines whether the text can be wrapped in a width you specify.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

Orientation

Reference
Defines the text orientation reference:
  • Sheet
  • Parent component
Important:

This property is not relevant for Dimension.

Orientation
Defines the text orientation:
  • Horizontal
  • Vertical
  • Fixed angle
Important:

This property is not relevant for Dimension.

Angle
Defines the text angle orientation.
Important:

This property is only available with Fixed Angle property and is not relevant for Dimension..

Mirroring
Mirrors the selected text or if the text should flip automatically in such a way that it is always placed in a readable position.
In case of labels, the following options are available:
  • No flip
  • Flip horizontally
  • Flip vertically
  • Flip both
Invert
Defines whether to invert the selected surface texture symbol.

Options

Display Units
Defines whether a text containing parameters with units, displays these units.
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

Apply Scale
Applies the scale of the view or of the parent component to the display of the text or to the value of a dimension.
Important:

If you want to use symbols as 2D components with text, select both the Apply Scale check box and the Create with a constant size option in : the size of both the 2D component and its text will then be independent from the view scale.

Back Field
Defines whether superscript and subscript texts are aligned above one another .
Important:

This property is not relevant for Coordinates Dimension, Datum, Datum Target, Dimension and Geometrical Tolerance.

Lock Editing
Defines whether the text can be edited.

See also Annotation section in Administration settings.

Superscript
Increases or decreases the values for the superscript texts.

The Offset parameter specifies the distance of the superscript text from the base line according to the font size of the text.

The Size parameter specifies the size of the superscript text according to the font size of the text.

Subscript
Increases or decreases the values for the subscript texts.

The Offset parameter specifies the distance of the superscript text from the base line according to the font size of the text.

The Size parameter specifies the size of the superscript text according to the font size of the text.

Blank Background
Defines whether the text background should be blanked:
  • None: To remove the blanking effect and display annotations without blank background.
  • Fill Area: To blank the annotation background. When you choose area fill, wireframe elements such as lines, curve, planes, view frames, view axes, and profile visualization in a view are visible. .
  • Fill Area with Geometry: To blank the background including wireframe elements and the associated indicators using blanking polygon which overlaps the annotation.
Display
Defines the annotation display:
  • Show value
  • Show box
  • Hide value

Extension Line

Length
Defines the extension line length, positive or negative, between the leader and the geometrical tolerance frame.
