Pre-defined Formats for Tolerance and Dimension Values

Some basic formats are provided by default for dimension tolerance and value display. Some of these pre-defined formats can be modified while others cannot. All pre-defined formats can be de-activated (i.e. taken out of the list of available styles).

This page discusses:

Modifiable formats

Modifiable formats appear in the default standard files provided by Dassault Systemes, just as any company-defined style would appear.

They can be modified or deleted using the Standards Editor, or de-activated (i.e. taken out of the list of available styles) using the Allowed* parameters described in the General Parameters section.

The following table lists which formats are modifiable for specific styles.

Important: The modification of a tolerance format is only applied to documents created after the tolerance format modification. To modify the tolerance format description of an existing document, you must:
  1. Open this document.
  2. In Me > Preferences > Standards editor, select the Drafting category and the ISO.xml file.
  3. Expand the Tolerance Formats node.
  4. Create a new instance with the convenient format.

Non-modifiable formats

Non-modifiable formats are not defined in the standard file, but in the code itself.

They cannot be modified, but can be de-activated (i.e. taken out of the list of available styles) using the Allowed* parameters described in the General Parameters section. All styles provided up to V5R8 are of this type.

The following tables list non-modifiable styles, along with an example of the result when applied on a dimension. The "Link to the style definition column" contains a link to the style definition, from which you can derive new formats, simply by copying all or part of their definition.

Alphanumerical and Numerical Display Tolerance Formats

The following table lists non-modifiable alphanumerical and numerical display tolerance formats.

Note: For these two types:

  • The 0 tolerance type is not available for user-defined descriptions.
  • The dimension value and alphanumerical tolerance are computed in accordance with the selected norm.
