Importing or Upgrading the MedDRA Dictionary

Initially, you must import the current MedDRA dictionary. When the MedDRA dictionary is updated, the you can upgrade Market Registration to use the updated dictionary.

Required access role: Regulatory Administrator

Before you begin: Obtain the required dictionary zip file. View the MedDRA Classification page. See MedDRA Classification Detail View or MedDRA Classification Structure View.
  1. From the Actions menu or toolbar, click Import Dictionary or Upgrade Dictionary. You see only one of these commands, depending on whether any version has already been imported.
  2. Select the file containing the MedDRA zipped data:

    1. Click Browse.
    2. Use your computer's file system to locate and select the zip file.
    3. Click Open.

  3. Click Done.
    Because of the size of the zip file, Market Registration uploads it in the background. You see a message indicating the status of the import.
    Note: When the file is unzipped, it should contain a folder named medDRA_<version>_language as the parent folder.

When the MedDRA dictionary import is complete, Market Registration sends an IconMail or email message.
