Inserting an Ambience as a Copy

You can create a new ambience from an existing one. This ambience is based on the data model of the legacy ambience and its parameters are copied from a PLM ambience.

Before you begin:
  • See Ambience Studio User's Guide for more information about how to create and save ambiences.
  • You can use this functionality for ambiences provided in the Visual Experience Content Collection (VCC) role.
  • Full configuration capabilities are available in Live Rendering.

Editing a Legacy Ambience
  1. From the Live Rendering section of the action bar, click Insert Ambience as Copy .
  2. Optional: In the Search box, search for the ambience.
Tip: You can use the amb predefined query.

The ambience is displayed in the search results.

  3. From the search results, click the ambience you want to import.
An "Ambience Representation" node is created in the tree, and the imported ambience is displayed in the 3D area.

  4. From the Live Rendering section of the action bar, click Manage Ambience .
A new image thumbnail is created in the Product Ambiences panel with the symbol to indicate that it is a legacy ambience.

  5. In the ambience editor panel, edit the new ambience with your own parameters.

By default, the created ambience inherits the parameters of the template ambience.

Important: If the template ambience is modified afterward, the copied ambience does not reflect the changes since the link between the two ambiences has been cut.

  6. In the ambience editor panel, click Save as new to product.
A new image thumbnail is created in the Product Ambiences panel and the ambience is automatically activated.

The parameters you customized in the previous steps are applied. You can keep them, or modify them if required.

Important: The ambience representation is automatically loaded when you open your product through the Open command, or through the Open With > Open Advanced... command with the With all representations option selected.
