Saving or Exporting an Image

You can specify options to save images in the database, export images to disk or to 3DSwym.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Import an object and render it.

Save an Image in the Database

You can save images in the database.

  1. From the Live Rendering section of the action bar, click Save Image .
    The Save Image dialog box appears.
    Tip: You can modify the information about the camera in the Description area.
  2. In the File Name box, enter a name for the image.
  3. In the File Format list, select a file format.
  4. Optional: To attach the image to the root product, select the Attach file to root product check box.
  5. To save the image, click Save Image .

Export an Image to Disk

You can export images to disk.

Before you begin: Select the Allow image save on disk option in the General section.
  1. From the Live Rendering section of the action bar, click Export Image .
    The Save Image dialog box appears.
  2. In the File Name box, enter a name for the image.
  3. In the Save as type list, select the file format.
  4. To save the image, click Save.

Export an Image to 3DSwym

You can publish images directly to 3DSwym.

Before you begin: Be a community member. For more information, see 3DSwym User's Guide.
  1. From the Live Rendering section of the action bar, click Export Image to 3DSwym .
  2. In the File Name box, enter a name for the image.
  3. In the File Format list, select a file format.
  4. Click Save Image .
  5. Enter the required information for the 3DSwym publication.

    Option Description
    Platform Lets you select the targeted platform for publication. By default, the active platform is selected.

    You can change the targeted platform if you have access to several environments.

    Community Lets you enter the community where the image is to be accessible.

    If you do not have any access to a community, an error message is displayed.

    Publication type Lets you select the type of the publication: Post, Media, iQuestion, or Idea.
    Publication title Lets you enter a title for the publication.
    Publication description or comments Lets you enter a description or comments for this publication.

  6. Click Publish.
    A media is created and published with the name and format defined in the previous steps. Depending on the selected publication type, a Post, iQuestion or Idea containing the published media is also created.
