Measuring 2D

You can measure 2D documents such as drawings or images.

You can measure the following document types: cgm format, drawing representations and .CATDrawing format, layouts, sheets, and raster formats (bmp, jpg, rgb, pcx, etc.).

Before you begin: Create a review of the image type and define a drawing, a layout, a sheet, or an image as a context.
  1. From the Review section of the action bar, click Measure 2D .
  2. On the drawing, select the element to be measured.

You can select a line, a point, an arc, or a circle. The pointer changes according to the element type.

  3. Optional: Select the second element, if you want to measure the distance between two elements.
    Tips:
    • You can use point and edge selection filters. To access the filters, hover over any element, right-click, and select Picking Point or Edge.
    • To remove the filter, again right-click and select Any Geometry.
    • A point or an edge gets selected as soon as you select the filter.
  4. On the context toolbars, click Validate the Measure .
The measure is created according to the selection.
    Notes:
    • You can create a non-persistent 2D measure when no active markups are detected in the context. However, in the review context and with a markup active, you can create a persistent measure.
    • You can customize the 2D measure using the commands on the context toolbars. For more information, see Measure Context Toolbars.
