Accessing Materials

You can use the Material Browser or the 6WTags to search for existing materials.

This task shows you how to:

Access Materials with the Material Browser

You can use the Material Browser to search for materials.

  1. To configure the Material Browser
    1. In the top bar, select Me > Preferences > Legacy Preferences > Infrastructure > Material Definition> Material Browser.
    2. In the Set the keyword to search materials (3DExperience Only) box, enter your search criteria.

      By default, the Search all materials (3DExperience Only) box is checked.

    3. Click OK.
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Material Browser .
  3. In the 6WTags panel of the Material Browser, expand the What tag and then select Most Recently Used Materials under Category.
    The previously applied materials appear.
  4. Select the arrow next to a material and then select Open .
    The materials open with their existing domains.
    Tip: To use the open advanced options, press Ctrl + Shift + O.

Access Materials with the 6WTags

You can use the 6WTags to refine your search results on materials.

Before you begin: Apply a material onto a product. See Managing Materials with the Material Browser.
  1. In the search box of the top bar, enter your search criteria and then click .
    The 6WTags and the Search Results panel appear.
  2. In the 6WTags panel, expand a tag and then select a category.

    The results appear according to the selected tag and category.

    Tip: To display previously applied materials, expand the What tag and then select Most Recently Used Materials under Category.

    Only applied materials appear under Most Recently Used Materials.

  3. Select the arrow next to a material and then click Open .
    The material opens in the Material Editor.
