Finding Objects Related to a Material

You can find where a material was used among the database by searching related objects. The relations can target references (product references and 3DShape Representation References) and instances ( Product Instances and 3DShape Representation Instances).


Before you begin: A material must be applied on several objects.

Exploring Relationships Between Objects
  1. From the 3DEXPERIENCEsearch , search a material using the 6WTags.
  2. Select a material.
  3. Right-click the material and select Relations.

    Note: The relations displayed are material applications, material domains and references links.

  4. Select a related object.

    You can now navigate from instances to references by clicking the relation arrow.

  5. To avoid a bloated view:
    1. In the Selection Menu , click Multiselection ON.
    2. Select the object you do not want to appear in the view.
    3. Click Remove Objects.
  6. To open the target of a material application:
    1. Select the related object.
    2. Right-click Open.

    Note: You can remove application of the material in this view. After data indexation, the application will be removed from the object in the database.
