IMDS Material Symbol Validation

The Material Symbols tab on the IMDS Validation report checks for material symbols when materials include certain thermoplastics or elastomers classifications.

Materials Compliance Management checks for the material symbol when an uploaded material has any of the following classifications:

  • 5.1.a filled Thermoplastics
  • 5.1.b unfilled Thermoplastics
  • 5.2 Thermoplastic elastomer
  • 5.3 Elastomers / elastomeric compounds

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Leader
  • App-specific: Senior Compliance Engineer

To generate this report, see Generating the IMDS Validation Report and then click the Material Symbol tab.

Column NameDescription
Material Title The title of the material. Click the material title to view its properties.
Material SymbolYou can fix materials that have missing symbols by entering the correct material symbol.
Direct Parent Part NameThe direct parent part name, if applicable. Click the part's name to view its compliance properties.
Top Level Part Name The top level part name for export. Click the part's name to view its compliance properties.
