IMDS Substance Classification Validation

The Substance Classification tab on the IMDS Validation report lists errors based on substances.

IMDS requires substance application information for material classification and substance combinations. In addition, each combination of material classification, substance, and application has a restricted threshold that is applied from the IMDS Substance Application file.

Each material classification/substance combination is validated, taking the threshold limit into consideration. Each material on the Substance Application tab is validated as follows, whether it has a defined IMDS Module and Node Id or not.

  • Multiple substances at the same level are combined before comparison
  • Each material classification/substance combination is compared against the same combination restriction from the IMDS Substance Application file. It is invalid if any of the following is true: the substance has no application OR the substance has an application; however, it is not one of the allowable OR the substance has a valid application; however, the amount of the substance exceeds the allowable threshold.
